Bear ghan

I finally finished a crochet WIP!!! It's a bear ghan for my grandson Elijah. I asked him what color he wanted and he said red, white and blue, so here it is! Can't remember which pattern I used, there are several on the net. I never stick to one anyway. I think I started with the one from Aunt B's and then winged it.

Tough week

Whew! Glad to be home! Got home on Wed. and have been asleep since!!! Lost a patient this week, and I know that people think we get used to it, but......we don't. It was so sad. She was suffering and I'm glad that's over, but her children were so devastated. I hurt for them and it also reminded me that I will have to face this one day. How do you live without your Mother? The one person in this life who loves you unconditionally. It hurts me to even think about it. I had already clocked out and was ready to leave when I heard her heart monitor alarm. Someone said "she just went asystole" and we ran to her room. She was gone. Her daughters looked shocked. I felt shocked. We performed all the necessary steps when a person dies, but mostly we just comforted her daughters. We had prayer with them, held them and cried with them. Then we prepared her body and took extra care. We bathed her, applied lotion, combed her hair. Then her daughters said good-bye. I love my job and count it an honor that these people allow me to help them in their last days. So many times, doctors just want to walk away in the face of a terminal diagnosis. I feel that this part of their lives is every bit as important as the rest. We owe them the best we have in their last days. I hope I gave it.

Return to Hospital Hell

Oh my,
The time is upon me!! Whatever shall I do??? I'll tell ya....I'm gonna return to Hospital Hell because I had to pay taxes this week and I need the money! Egads, between real estate, vehicles and income taxes I'm dropping over 2 grand! That really sucks. I even figured in buying IRA's, only reduced my amount by 100. to buy 1000. IRA. Pfff! Couldn't itemize since the standard deduction went up and I was almost there too! Since I have mileage, hotel expense in addition to the regular deductions I came close, but no cigar. Anyway, am seriously thinking of looking for work closer to home. I am tiring of the drive and staying in a motel for 3 days a week. It would be so wonderful to go to work and come home and sleep in my bed. I truly want to work hospice. Have also been thinking along the lines of consulting as well. I have experience in consulting in my prior field, so that would help. It would be like research for attorneys, worker's compensation claims, etc. Since I adore research that would be a dream. In a perfect world, I could do research for a couple of attorney's and 1-2 shifts a week locally to keep my skills current. Oh well, enough with the perfect world shit. I better get to bed so I can work tomorrow, lol.
